Description: HOTEL AT MATALA CRETA

Matala is a small seaside village with a lovely sandy beach that is located on the southern coast of Crete, about an hour drive from Iraklio (via Agia Varvara - Agii Deka - Mires). Matala is famous for its magnificent hollowed-out rocks with the artificial caves. Some of the caves may possibly have been used as prehistoric dwellings, while during the 1st and 2nd centuries, they were used as tombs. Today the area of the caves is an archaeological site. Matala was chosen in late sixties by the "flowers' children" to become their "paradise on earth". Although is not likely to meet hippies any more, Matala still carries an aura of libery and "flower flavor". Matala, a small fishing village a few years ago, has now developed into a modern holiday resort that provides everything a visitor needs for relaxing and safe holidays. In Matala you can find restaurants, cafes, super market, bakery, grocery, book shop, laundry, post office, 24hr ATMs and many other shops, all of them just a few steps from Matala View! Matala is an ideal starting point for excursions to the numerous sights and marvelous beaches of south Crete and to the archaeological sites of the area: Phaistos, Agia Triada and Gortyna. The picturesque tavernas on the beach of Matala offer romantic and carefree evenings. You may try the local wine and Raki together with a traditional meal or fresh fish from the Libyan sea. There is also a market that has a bazaar atmosphere with many shop doors opening onto the paved with stones street. The hotel was built in 1985, renovated every year; downstairs are natural stones outside. There is a swimming pool (100 m2) with a house with showers and toiletts and a huge garden on the 3000 m2 plot. 5 minutes by feet to the beach. This a very popular destination in south Creta situated not directly at the street, so it is a quiet place. We have all licenses to run a hotel. The hotel has 21 rooms: ● 20 rooms for guests and one small room for only one person. ● 16 of these 20 rooms are double rooms (and for single person) and 4 are for 3 people. ● 11 rooms (8 doubles, 2 triples and the small room) are downstairs, 10 rooms are on the first floor. On every floor a room for the cloths, sheets and all the things for cleaning. On the first floor is a large terace with tiles, where you can enlarge the hotel with another room or make a real terace for guests Downstairs is the reception, a large room (30 m2) for breakfast . Kitchen, full equipped, a bar, a room for children to play with toys Outside: playground, parking .

About: Irakliou, Crete, Greece

Per square mile, Crete must be one of the most "loaded" places in the world -- loaded, that is, in the diversity of its history, archaeological sites, natural attractions, tourist amenities, and just plain surprises. In a world where more and more travelers have "been there, done that," Crete remains an endlessly fascinating and satisfying destination. Few travelers need to be sold on the glories of the Minoan culture of Crete. But Crete also offers cities layered with 4,000 years of continuous inhabitation, including the vibrant heritage of centuries-old Orthodox Christianity and the distinctive imprint left by almost 700 years of Venetian and Turkish rule. Not to mention endless beaches, magnificent mountains, intriguing caves, resonant gorges, and countless villages and sites that provide unexpected and unforgettable experiences. An elaborate service industry has developed to please the many thousands of foreigners who visit Crete each year. Facilities now exist to suit everyone's taste, ranging from luxury resorts to guest rooms in villages that have hardly changed over several centuries. You can spend a delightful day in a remote mountain town where you're treated to fresh goat cheese and olives, then be back at your hotel within an hour, enjoying a cool drink on the beach.
