A fantastic opportunity to buy one of the few windmills on the island. Possibly the most unique property you can own on Hydra!
This is not a large property, but its uniqueness and the fantastic position make it very attractive.
The mill is perched on the cliffside above Kamini harbour, and has the most amazing views on the island.
Easily accessible from the coast road via Avlaki, or from 4 Corners.
Greek windmills are a standard size, and there are others on the island that have been very successfully converted into attractive homes.
At least one of these is offered as a holiday rental (see the 'Holiday Lets' section of hydrahomes.com) and is incredibly popular.
It may be possible to create a three storey house (one room on each floor).
To do this, two rooms would be created in the main part of the mill, and a third in the base. The wall of the base is exposed on the seaward side, so it would be posible to put windows in.
This will never be a big house, but is likely to be a very good investment, especially as a holiday rental. The iconic nature of this type of building makes it incredible attractive to holiday makers.
The mill has a sterna (fresh water storage area) in one part of the base, and another possibility would be to remove the top of this for a ready made infiniti swimming pool...
About: Pireas, Athens, GreeceAthens (Αθήνα, Athína) is the capital Greece and the country’s largest city. Athens is one of the world's oldest cities with a history that spans around 3,400 years. According to Eurostat, Athens is the 4th most populous capital city of the European Union with a population of 4,013,368 (in 2004). Modern Athens is a cosmopolitan metropolis that is central to economic, financial, industrial, political and cultural life in Greece. Classical Athens was a powerful city-state that was the centre for the arts, learning and philosophy and widely referred to as the cradle of Western civilization and the birthplace of democracy. The heritage of classical Athens is still visible in the city, represented by a number of ancient works of art and monuments. One of the most famous of all monuments being the Parthenon - widely considered a key landmark of early Western civilization. Athens’ infrastructure and social amenities have improved over the last decade due to the 2004 Olympic Games. The Greek Government, along with the EU, has funded major infrastructure projects such as the state-of-the-art Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, the expansion of the Athens Metro system, and the new Attiki Odos Motorway. |
