Description: GREEK PRIVATE ISLAND

When looking at a map of Greece, one sees the large number of islands which are in the surrounding seas. However, very few of them are privately owned and only a very few of the privately owned island are available for sale. The four islands of the Provati Group are some of the very few privately owned islands whose ownership has already been recognized by the Greek government and are free to be sold immediately. The islands are located in the Echinades complex of the Ionian Sea. The pride of Echinades complex is Provati island. Its area is approximately 1180000sqm (300.000sqm not forestal). Its dimensions are approximately 2.0km in length and 1.1km in width (maximum). Opposite Provati to the northeast is the gulf of Astakos with the port town of the same name of its innermost point, some 5 miles away of Provati. Astakos is mainly a fishing village with approximately 2000 inhabitants. It attracts a number of visitors during the summer. DESCRIPTION (a) Further inland, approximately 60km lies Agrinio with its small airport. Athens is approximately 300km to the east of Astakos. The islands are located close to the mainland highways that join northern part of Greece to Athens and the Peloponnese. The island of Provati is beautiful. It has rolling hills rising to 60 meters elevation above sea level. The hills slope gently to an irregular shore line to form two bays. The land vegetation is rich. There are many trees on Provati including olive trees. The island is uninhabited. The weather is a major asset. Data has been collected from the meteorological station of the nearby island of Lefkas. These records show that the mean temperature betweenMay and October is 23.3c (74F). During that period there is almost no rainfall on the island. DESCRIPTION (b) There is no major industry and there are no Major sea lanes in the vicinity, thus the water around the island remains crystal clear. This allows for the best in bathing, sailing, sea sports, surface and deepwater fishing.Prova
