Description: Plot

Land for Sale: Askeli, Poros 1,274 m2 and only 400 m from the sandy beaches of Askeli This unique piece of land has a view toward the sea and the mainland hills of the village of Galata in one direction and in the other direction toward the Poros hills with pines and olive trees. There are access roads on its 3 sides, with a hand-chiseled stone wall around the land. In the back of the land there is a fence and in one corner with somewhat higher elevation there are approximately 10 pine trees. Also, there are some fruit trees, flowers, a metal frame for vines, a small storage room, and watering system. The owner can build 400 m2, or divide the land and sell part of it. There is a stone well with water year around. The land is in a convenient location. Within walking distance there is a kiosk, some supermarkets, restaurants featuring local cuisine, a bus stop, and a sea sport center during the summer with various rides and lessons. It takes just 25 minutes to walk to the port town of Poros. The beautiful Monastery of Poros is 25 minutes walking distance. Access to Poros is easy and quick: a ferry ride from the mainland Peloponnese is just 10 minutes, thus permitting year-around travel. It is 2 hours by car from Athens on the new roads, or 1 hour by express Flying Dolphin to Piraeus. Poros is a green island with many pine trees and undeveloped land. Its population of 5,000 people enjoys mild weather year round. There are several sandy beaches and nearby islands for boat trips, sightseeing, or fishing. In aquariums in Portugal and the U.S. they display octopuses and other fish from Poros. There is a health clinic, a heliport, an active cultural center, kayak and sailing lessons, traditional shopping areas, a summer cinema, and summer concerts at some beaches featuring different kinds of music. The island is historic, with the remains of the Temple of Poseidon at a high point, facing Aegina island and Piraeus. There is an archaeological museum in the port town. Theseus started from the area of Trizinia, in which Poros is located. All in all, it is a popular island because of its easy and quick access year around, and its attractive green landscape. About: Pireas, Athens, Greece

Athens (Αθήνα, Athína) is the capital Greece and the country’s largest city. Athens is one of the world's oldest cities with a history that spans around 3,400 years. According to Eurostat, Athens is the 4th most populous capital city of the European Union with a population of 4,013,368 (in 2004). Modern Athens is a cosmopolitan metropolis that is central to economic, financial, industrial, political and cultural life in Greece. Classical Athens was a powerful city-state that was the centre for the arts, learning and philosophy and widely referred to as the cradle of Western civilization and the birthplace of democracy. The heritage of classical Athens is still visible in the city, represented by a number of ancient works of art and monuments. One of the most famous of all monuments being the Parthenon - widely considered a key landmark of early Western civilization. Athens’ infrastructure and social amenities have improved over the last decade due to the 2004 Olympic Games. The Greek Government, along with the EU, has funded major infrastructure projects such as the state-of-the-art Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, the expansion of the Athens Metro system, and the new Attiki Odos Motorway.
